100 days project 2025: 100 things on my table
For the 2025 100 days Scotland project I drew one thing that was on my kitchen table, every day; sharing them on Instagram with the hashtag #bb100thingsonmytable. Just one object that was already lying on the table; a tiny part of everyday life. It was a simpler and easier project than any of my previous ones; I chose it mainly because I wanted to get back into a habit of drawing: drawing for the sake of it; just to observe and enjoy the process; not caring (as much as possible!) what the outcome looked like.
And it worked: knowing I was going to be sharing each drawing online, whether I liked it or not!, quickly made my drawing process much freer. I originally had the idea that I’d use the project to try out many different mediums, but in the end I opted almost every day for ink pen sketching and some quick watercolour over the top.
I hadn’t expected the drawings, as a collection, to be meaningful beyond quick sketches, but I think maybe they are: my 2025 sketchbook, with its 100 ordinary objects, is a quiet record of some of the many, many small things that together make up our lives. Just another way that the 100 days project is so powerful!
